luciadelbray:

I wouldn’t think so. Queen Micaiah and Empress Sanaki are both very clever and wise from what I hear. I heard from Her Majesty it was the Empress who aided her in signing the Begnion Army to help reclaim Crimea during the Mad King’s War. Not to mention we never really suspected or believed it was the Empress pulling the strings during the Laguz War. Queen Micaiah…she’s very worshipped and respected in Daein. So I agree in that they will silence those voices, especially since they will be helping each other doing so.

A wide-range acceptance is what seemed utopic to us, laguz, for centuries. We still hold some skepticism towards beorc affairs, even after all this time fighting and working alongside each other for the betterment of Tellius.

I do not doubt the Queen and Empress, for they have earned our trust.

Makalov and Ulki’s Excellent Adventure

princeoflayabouts:

“Hawk King’s Ears, huh? That sounds like a pretty lofty title!” The phrase in itself sounded like something he ought to have known, but any more ignorance on his part would surely make him look like a bigger fool than he’d already made himself out to be.

“I myself don’t have any fancy titles to my name, but, y’know, maybe one day…” he replied- then stopped and trailed off. Well, no, that wasn’t true. In some circles he was known as the “Prince of Layabouts”….But that wasn’t exactly something to write home about. Actually, it was probably for the better that he didn’t mention it.

Makalov perked up at the prospect of the race being rigged. Rigged? Rigged?…Of course. It all made sense.
“Y’know, you may be on to something…” he thought, snapping his fingers. “I bet Sir Benson did something to Emile to make sure he won!” It was the best possible explanation for what had happened the other day. Of course, Ulki’s words afterwards were completely lost to Makalov.

“It would be an equivalent to a beorc adviser,” he commented, underestimating that he shares with Janaff the second-in-command position of the United Bird Tribes.

“You will likely get a worthy title someday,” he said consoling him, aware of his Layabout title. “You just need to work harder for it.”

Upon Makalov’s words, Ulki inspected the horse to see if there was anything unusual with him. From his view seated down, he could not see any strange modifications, and he also could not hear them. “It is probable. If you avoid entering such circumstances that could be rigged, you could save your income from a likely loss.”

ooc: I’ll get to replying soon. If I am correct, I just need to reply to Queen Crimea and Lady Delbray, while Sir Clownhair Makalov has not answered yet. If I had an rp going on or in the works with you that you’d like to continue, please send me a message since my memory is not at its best right now.

It is good to hear that the reconstruction has been going without major complications.

Yes, I knew of the trade agreement and told my king about it. He is currently off on a diplomatic trip, and mentioned before he departed that he was considering adding the United Bird Tribes to the treaty. Hatari would most likely follow if Prince Rafiel were informed of this… Which would leave Begnion and the branded colony of Grann -which Ulki was determined not to forget- to complete a continental trade agreement. It would be indeed a great improvement of the socioeconomic relations between our nations, and our races.

I will do so when I next see them.

(ooc: Nice to ‘meet’ you as Ulki too. Moved this to posts so we can continue by reblogging/not be bothered by character limits.)

Ah, well I bid him a good safe trip to wherever he is travelling. It’s good to hear he’s considering adding the bird tribes to the deal. It would call for a definite more solidified union between our countries. But I am surprised to hear you would consider the Branded colony of Grann in this. That would certainly call a change within the relations between all races of Tellius. And Begnion now lead by Sanaki and dispelled of the senators could well agree with joining the agreement.

He would be thankful for your regards…

An union is indeed needed… for that the branded must be considered. -Ulki realized something as he said this- It seems I forgot Daein. Begnion and Daein are currently like sister nations… as their leaders are. Even with the old, vile senators rid of, there might be some opposition from the new ones… but I believe the larger control and acceptance will aid in silencing those voices.

(ooc: I’ll be back soon and reply more constantly.)

Lady Lucia… it has been a long time since I last heard of you. How do you fare?

Friend Ulki, it is good to see you. Yes it has been a while. I am faring well, Crimea is rebuilding nicely. Have you heard of the recent discussions of a trade agreement between Gallia, Goldoa and Crimea? It looks to finally go into action. Send my regards to King Tibarn and Friend Janaff.

(OOC: Ha ha that’s all right, they are both Lucia themed so I can see how they’d be confused XD. But nice meet you! :D)

Makalov and Ulki’s Excellent Adventure

princeoflayabouts:

Makalov listened to Ulki’s explanation, idly scratching behind his ear to swat at a passing gnat. But what caught his attention the most was Ulki’s last statement.

“Wait, you heard that?!” Makalov interjected, both incredulous and embarrassed. He knew that laguz were supposed to have heightened senses, senses much better than humans, but…but how did he hear that far?

Makalov grimaced in memory of the previous day- he’d had a little bit too much faith in his own skill in horsemanship, and had not put enough stock in the fact that he was using someone else’s horse entirely to race. And to think it had all begun with him boasting that he could control his horse better than the other fellow. Of course, that led to an argument, and Makalov had agreed to a race, each knight using the opposite’s horse.

In hindsight, that made the situation today….ironic.

“You listened to Benson,” Makalov muttered, directing the comment at his horse.

He looked back at Ulki, mouth twisting into a bit of a grin. He leaned against Emile’s saddle as he spoke again.

“Well, it was a pretty rigged race, if I say so myself!”

“Yes, I have an enhanced sense of hearing,” he replied calmly. “That is why I am known as the Hawk King’s Ears.” It seemed odd to Ulki that Makalov did not know this, considering some of the laguz like Naesala referred to him as such. But details like these would probably pass by Makalov’s ears as he was thinking of something else.

“I suppose it could have been rigged. Horse races are prone to all manner of cheating.” Ulki had never once seen a horse race, only heard them or beorc talking about them. It did not help that most of the conversations he had heard regarding them were scattered with mentions of money and other types of bets, thus he associated them with greed. And where there is money involved, beorc are bound to find a way to obtain it easily and without regard to the rules.

Judging from Makalov’s pose, reclining against his horse, Ulki inferred he was up for a long, casual conversation. He bent his knees and sat down with his back and wings supported by a piece of fence.

It’s the 10th year anniversary of Fire Emblem: Fūin no Tsurugi (The Binding Blade), better known by its fan translation name: Sword of Seals. So to celebrate the adventures of Roy and friends as they try to return Elibe to a time of peace, I am posting a great and in-depth introduction to the game by Dinosaur News Center. This is part 7 of their Fire Emblem Retrospective series.

(I’ve been obsessed with this game lately and am eager to return to playing tomorrow. It has Trolliwood’s son after all. xP)

Makalov and Ulki’s Excellent Adventure

princeoflayabouts:

Makalov gave Ulki space as he shifted back into his hawk form, mulling over the short snippet of conversation. Was he delivering something at the castle? No, probably not, or else the knight was sure he would have seen or heard of his arrival earlier. But it was also entirely possible that he did miss him, in which case he’d be in the wrong on both accounts.

Makalov’s short train of thought ended as Ulki’s talons grabbed onto Emile’s reigns. It was a very interesting sight to watch. Emile neighed with distaste and surprise, but Ulki was strong enough to keep him steady as he wrapped the reigns around a tree. Although Makalov had seen laguz, and knew how strong they were, he couldn’t recall ever simply observing them out of battle.

There was a certain grace to the flight, although Makalov wasn’t an expert on that sort of thing.

Ulki’s words as he unshifted brought him out of his mind.

“Huh?” Oh, right. Noseband. His equipment was starting to look a little shabby. Hmm. He’d have to do something about that eventually.

Smiling, he walked over to Ulki and Emile, a hearty “Thanks!” and a pointed, annoyed look at his steed that went straight back to a smile.

And then…Now what? Makalov realized that he didn’t really know Ulki that well. Come to think of it, he didn’t really converse with laguz that often.

“So…you’re delivering a…package? What for? Did I miss you at the palace?”

“You are welcome,” were the words he said in reply to his thanks. Ulki looked at Makalov, something was either troubling him or he just found it hard to continue the conversation.

The hawk knew Makalov did not talk to laguz often as he only heard the beorc speak a few lines that were mostly questions regarding himself or his sister Marcia. Sometimes his words were of encouragement or interest in knowing others, which would seem a rare occurrence to others had they not heard him talk to beorcs he was close to. Under the unlucky, lazy and drunk gambler was a caring and noble man, but unfortunately, only a few people, and Ulki who listened to most of his conversations with them, knew this. Without knowing that, he probably would not have approached him to help.

“Yes, it was a package for the queen… After stating my purpose to the guards, I flew directly towards her office and delivered it from the windowsill…” To not make Makalov seem unobservant after flying above him, Ulki added: “You were occupied talking to another knight about a horse race.” It was more specifically about a bet on the previous day’s horse race, whose results did not end up very fortunate for the pink-haired paladin.

Makalov and Ulki’s Excellent Adventure

princeoflayabouts:

To say that Makalov was unobservant was an understatement. He nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard wings and a voice behind him. It took him a second to get his bearings straight before turning his head to gaze over his shoulder.

“Oh, Ulki,” Makalov acknowledged, relaxing slightly. “I didn’t realize you were in town.” His trademark grin, halfway between sheepish and amused, crept onto his features, but faded once he glanced back at Emile out of the corner of his eye.

Well, this was embarrassing.

“Help,” he repeated, mulling it over. “That’d be nice. If, y’know, you’re not busy or anything.

“Emile’s just…messing with me. Horsing around, and whatnot. This is typical!” His words did nothing to disguise the fact that there wasn’t much in the way of playing this situation off.

((OOC: :0 Really? Haha, that’s funny! I must be psychic.))

“I was delivering something at Melior,” replied Ulki as his eyes followed Makalov chasing the horse. There was a slight blush of embarrassment on his face as he spoke. When asked for aid, Ulki shifted into a hawk again and flew over Emile, dashing down to pick up the reins with his talons. The horse was too heavy for Ulki to pick off the ground but he managed to keep them at a steady speed and dragged them towards the nearby tree. There, he flew twice in a circle around the trunk, and finished a knot with his talons.

He unshifted as the horse gave an unhappy neigh and kicked off the ground. “You should get a new noseband; it will break soon,” he said while standing next to Makalov. Ulki was not the best conversationalist when it came to beorcs he didn’t know well, although he had at least met Makalov before so he wasn’t uneasy or alert around him.

(ooc: Definitely :P You also answered just as I got back home and refreshed tumblr, but then I forgot to publish this post.)

Makalov and Ulki’s Excellent Adventure

princeoflayabouts:

Makalov’s steed was grazing a fair distance away from his master, indifferent to the knight and his feeble attempts to grab at his reigns. Makalov swore under his breath once again, for as soon as he got close enough to take the reigns, Emile would break out into a sudden canter, moving just out of his reach and rendering Makalov breathless.

“Good for nothing donkey, that’s what you are!” Makalov called out to him.

Emile ignored him.

This had been going on for awhile, now. It had all started when Makalov had stopped an afternoon run for a quick moment of shut-eye. He thought his horse had been tied up to a branch, but apparently the knot wasn’t very tight. When he approached to grab the reigns, Emile would buck his head and kick up dust and grass in his wake as he moved away from the layabout.

Makalov would say that he’d done something to upset his horse, but that was probably silly, and he couldn’t think of exactly what he could’ve done to anger him in the first place. All he knew that he’d have to keep chasing his horse until he could outsmart his own steed.

In the nearby forest, Ulki was finding a snack after leaving a package at Castle Crimea.  As he was munching on some fruits, he heard Makalov fighting with his horse to get it tied up again. When he finished eating, Ulki transformed into a hawk and flew onto the open field where Makalov was chasing Emile.

“Need any help there?,” said the laguz as he unshifted into human form and landed behind Makalov. The horse kept kicking the ground and Ulki had to duck his wings to avoid a mound of grass that was heading towards them.

“I cannot speak to horses or understand them well, but I believe they are not comfortable with you tying them up for long periods…”

(ooc: I’m not the only one punny around here. xP This will be lots of fun. Oh and, Ulki’s back, tell a friend. I lol’ed because I punned that song for when I returned to another rp character a few weeks ago. And I saw the film on the title, but have a vague memory of it.)

I’m still Ulki here, so might as well have him do things. If anyone is willing to rp with him, send me a reply and I’ll think of something to do depending of the character. Or if you have an rp idea you want to do with him, that too. I’m trying to keep the number of rp conversations to a minimum since 3+ on both Gerik and Ulki would be too much to handle currently.

About

Avatar I am Ulki, a hawk from Phoenicis and the "Ears" of King Tibarn. I am usually calm and quiet, but once you get to know me, you'll see I'm really a nice and randomly fun laguz. I like to experience nature, fly around the world, see photos and drawings of great landscapes as well as hear the music of other birds. If you want to talk about anything, I'm here to listen. You may follow and ask me anything, I will just marvel at the view while you do.

I'm also a mercenary leader.
